More exciting changes...our new website is NOW LIVE! You will find all the info you have come to rely on in a more user-friendly, intuitive space.
There are more details about joining Peace Pods, how and where to donate, the programs we offer, and of course, our patterns! The new website is much easier for us to update and saves us money so we can divert those funds to go more directly to our mission.
Please be patient as we continue to make updates and let us know if you don't see something you need. It's always a process to switch websites, but we are really excited about this update and hope you are too!
Head over to www.knitting4peace.org to see the gorgeous changes!
Thank you all for your kindness as we make these subtle changes to improve our programming. -Kelly |

| Community Member of the Month: Christi H., Knitter, Crocheter, K4P Delivery Agent Christi H. retired from her nursing career in Colorado in 2020 but she hasn’t slowed down one bit! She is a lifelong crafter and enthusiastic learner who really does it all. She knits, crochets, makes pottery, is an avid gardener, and is working on her Healing Touch certification. She is even a belly dancer who sews her own costumes!
Christi found Knitting4Peace during Covid as she was seeking out ways to support others and make a positive impact. She jumped at the chance to not only donate many items, but also to become a K4P Delivery Agent, taking small blankets and hats to the very same hospital where she had previously worked. She soon became a weekly volunteer in the NICU, first as a “cuddler” and now in the massage room as a friendly face to new Moms. Christi always brings her knitting or crocheting, and encourages those who are interested in learning, as she sees crafting as a strategy for wellness.
Many of the moms who are recipients of Christi’s monthly K4P deliveries of blankets and hats are recent immigrants who are particularly appreciative of the blankets from K4P as they do not have many baby items. One special memory is the mom who sadly shared that the twin sister of her baby in the NICU had died in utero. Christi had the perfect baby blanket to share with this mom as it had 2 strands woven together, representative of the entwined spirits of the twins. She says the mom was so grateful for the special blanket, and that experiences like this are an important reminder that sometimes even the simplest things can make a huge difference.
Christi continues to build her knitting and crocheting skills through classes, watching YouTube videos, and searching Pinterest. She recently became involved in a local Peace Pod and says it is inspiring to see what others are making. Christi shares information about K4P wherever she goes and encourages others to consider donating. Thank you, Christi, for being such a great ambassador for K4P and especially for being such a reliable K4P Delivery Agent. We truly appreciate you!

Thank you so much for your kind attention to our previous articles on the importance of consistency in creating items for K4P. This is so helpful to us as we ready items for deliveries, for our Community Partners as it helps them to more easily distribute items to those who need them. We really appreciate your willingness to make adjustments, as needed, in the items you send to us.
This month we would like to share some of the items that we do NOT currently need. Typically, items are not currently needed because we have not received recent requests for these items. Sometimes it is because we already have an abundance of an item and, at times, items are no longer appropriate for us to distribute.
The following items are NOT currently needed for distribution: - Premie sized items. Please see our guidelines for minimum sizes for hats (13” circumference) and baby blankets (26” minimum). We can no longer use premie sizes.
-
Fashion scarves. Please make sure that all scarves are WARM and meet size guidelines. We do not need fashion scarves.
- Washcloths. We are not currently receiving requests for these and have many on hand.
- Bibs and booties. We have many of these and are not receiving many requests.
- Socks, headbands, sweaters, handmade animals. These items are usually very beautiful, but are challenging to distribute as our Community Partners do not have the capacity to easily share them.
- Store bought items (mittens, scarves, hats). Knitting4Peace is known for high quality, handmade items, so we encourage you to distribute store bought items locally.
- Partially finished items or items with yarn ends not sewn in. We do not have the capacity to complete items for you.

Please note:
Our donation intake is run solely by volunteers. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to immediately acknowledge each package as it arrives. Remember, you can always track your package with your carrier. Remember, mailing costs qualify as tax-deductible nonprofit donations. Keep your receipts! Due to a lack of storage, K4P cannot accept yarn donations unless they are new and still in the original wrapper. Thank you for understanding. |

Peace Pals & Small Baby Blankets |
| |
|
Thank you for your responsiveness to our calls for specific items! We get so very excited when we ask for scarves (or mittens, or finger puppets, or blankets, etc.) and then we receive boxes and packages with an abundance of the needed items. This allows us to better meet the needs and requests we receive and we are so grateful to you for making that possible!
We have seen an increase in requests for Peace Pals so please continue to make and send those in as you are able!
We need Pals with friendly faces and smiles, and can always use more with hijabs. Please do not make “x” eyes or use buttons for eyes. We also have an ongoing need for small baby blankets—those that are 26”-30” on each side—for distribution to NICUs and programs for new moms and infants. |
