Welcome to our new newsletter format and delivery system! We have changed from the service we used and are now utilizing our donor database to send our newsletter. It saves us hundreds each year so that we can redirect those funds into programming. I know it looks a bit different, and may take some getting used to, but please stick with us! |

A few housekeeping updates to start with. The first is that if you gave a monetary gift to Knitting4Peace in 2023, you will be receiving an emailed tax receipt TOMORROW (2/1/2024). PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT! If we do not have an email address for you, we will pop your receipt in snail mail, but email is much better. If haven't received your tax receipt, please let me know.
We haven't switched over to Kindful yet, so your monthly donations will continue through the Colorado Gives Website. Please stay tuned for updates on switching to a different platform. This will save us TONS on credit card fees and is completely safe for the donor.
Many of you sent me the same article/video from the New York Times and I thought I would share it with the whole community. We all know that the items we make and donate change the lives of those who receive them, but I think it is equally important to acknowledge the impact this community has on our wellbeing. Please visit the link and take the time to watch the short documentary. SEE THE VIDEO HERE
Thank you all for your support in 2023 and we can't wait to be of service in 2024! Cheers- Kelly |

Have you ever wondered what happens to your donations after they leave you and travel to Denver? Well… after your package arrives at our location, it is taken to our Intake Room on the 2nd floor. Once there, our amazing Intake Volunteers work in teams of 2 or 3 to open the packages and lovingly sort each item. They “ooh and aah,” admiring your handiwork. They then check to make sure the items meet our Consistency Guidelines before entering the information in our system.
The members of this knowledgeable, dedicated crew contribute countless hours to this important endeavor and many have done so for years! Their work is essential in allowing us to quickly send items out once requests are received. All of our Intake Volunteers are experienced knitters or crocheters who also regularly contribute items to K4P. In addition, several of them serve as delivery agents, contribute as K4P Board Members, or spend time as “repair angels” who help repair items that need additional loving.
Many of our volunteers prefer to remain in the background but we coaxed a few to share their stories with you. Lynn began knitting and crocheting for a Girl Scout badge in 3rd grade.
She has found that being an Intake Volunteer is a great way to contribute to K4P and it also gets her out of the house! She loves trying out new patterns. Claudia, Lee, and JoAnn are friends who love to knit and decided to become more involved with K4P. They enjoy doing Intake together. Julie M. is super organized and does the hard work of scheduling the volunteers to ensure that there are team members working each week of the year. Each of our Intake Volunteers is a valued member of our team and we simply could not do what we do without their help.
Our current Intake team includes Andrea P., Arna C., Arran D., Claudia P., Deb S., Janice L., Joan R., JoAnn K., Julie M, Kathy F., Kathleen M., Lee L., and Lynn F. Please join us in thanking each of them for this special service of love. |

We are so grateful to you for all the amazing work you do and for sharing your talents with those in need. As you create, please remember to follow our K4P guidelines which allow us to quickly distribute requested items to those in need. Ask yourself the following questions:
Does the item meet K4P size guidelines? Hats must be a minimum of 13” in circumference (no premie sizes!). Baby blankets must be at least 26” on all sides. Scarves should be WARM and a minimum of 4” wide and 40” long. Peace pals should be 5”-7” with no “x” eyes.
Is this an item I would be proud to give to a good friend or family member? Is it handmade and fully finished, with yarn ends sewn in?
Did I make sure the item is free of any pet hair or strong scents? Pet hair can be a danger for infants or recipients with allergies. Removing it is time-consuming for our volunteers.
Did I check with K4P before sending any unusual items? Our recipient organizations regularly request hats, scarves, mittens, baby blankets, finger puppets, Peace Pals, bibs, and booties. They typically do not have an easy way to distribute other items, no matter how beautiful, useful, or fun they might be so please check before sending in items not on this list. |

Please note:
Our donation intake is run solely by volunteers. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to immediately acknowledge each package as it arrives. Remember, you can always track your package with your carrier. Remember, mailing costs qualify as tax-deductible nonprofit donations. Keep your receipts! Due to a lack of storage, K4P cannot accept yarn donations unless they are new and still in the original wrapper. Thank you for understanding. |
| Mail or bring items to: 2600 N. Leyden St., Denver, CO 80207 Drop-Off hours: Monday through Thursday, 9am-2 pm Ring the doorbell and you will be let into the church to drop off your items. EACH mailed box or dropped-off bag must include a note with the DATE, NAME, MAILING ADDRESS, E-MAIL, AND PEACE POD. |

Our bins are once again overflowing and we cannot thank you enough for all of your wonderful donations. Because of you, we are able to quickly respond to community needs for cold weather items and it fills our hearts with joy!
If ever you’ve wondered if you made a difference, please read the children’s letters, which are just a sample of the many we’ve received. They are proof of the impact you have with each donation you send. To read the letters you can go HERE.
As always, we have ongoing needs for small blankets (26” is the absolute minimum), scarves, mittens, finger puppets, and Peace Pals. |
